Follow The Peace (God's will for your life!)

Have you ever wondered what the will of God is for your life? Ever stressed about messing it up or choosing the wrong path? Trust me, you're not alone.

I actually like the question because there's an underlying assumption that God has a plan for your life and that doing it His way will be the best way. Scripture definitely backs that up. (See Ephesians 2:10, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 32:8, Proverbs 3:5-6)

Where we need to be cautious is when we are stressing about the future or worried about getting it right. Jesus told us in no uncertain terms not to do that, like, at all. (Matthew 6:25-34)

On Sunday we're going to talk about how to know what the will of God is for your life and, spoiler alert, it's more simple than you might realize. It's much more about the posture of your heart than the writing on the wall. (Take a sneak peek for yourself: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

But when it comes to the specifics of making decisions in your life, there is a way that I counsel people to know if they are following the path that the Lord has for them. I tell them to follow the peace. When we truly lay down our preferences and pride, our need to control and our fear (and whatever else we're carrying when it comes to our future) and ask Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to show us what's next, I have always found that I can make decisions with a great degree of confidence because my mind and heart are at peace. When you consider your options, which one brings peace?

I will tell you from experience that feeling the peace of Christ doesn't mean that I am choosing the easiest path or necessarily the one that I thought I wanted. That's not guaranteed. But walking in His peace is worth it every time. Every. Single. Time.

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." (Isaiah 26:3)

And so, if I may give you the best piece of counsel I have to know the will of God: follow the peace.

Let's talk more on Sunday!

See you then,
